FRIDAY is built on a simple principle: we can't leak what we never receive.
FRIDAY collects zero personal data, sends nothing to any server, and has no account system. The AI model runs 100% on your iPhone. Your conversations exist only on your device, encrypted by iOS, inaccessible to us.
FRIDAY ("we", "the app") is a private AI assistant for iPhone. This privacy policy explains our data practices. The summary is simple: we collect nothing, store nothing externally, and have no visibility into your usage.
FRIDAY is designed so that even if we wanted to access your data, we technically couldn't โ because it never reaches any infrastructure we control.
We collect zero personal data. FRIDAY has no backend servers, no database, no analytics pipeline, and no user accounts. There is no mechanism by which we could receive your personal information.
Specifically, we do not collect:
FRIDAY's core AI capability runs entirely on your iPhone. When you send a message, it is processed locally by the Llama 3.2 model using Apple's Neural Engine and Metal GPU acceleration. No network request is made for inference.
The model file itself (~1.8 GB for the 3B variant) is downloaded once from a CDN over HTTPS, then stored locally on your device. Subsequent sessions require no internet connection whatsoever.
FRIDAY optionally supports cloud AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) as an alternative inference backend. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by you in Settings.
When you enable cloud inference:
You can disable cloud inference at any time in Settings. Doing so immediately returns all processing to on-device mode.
If you enter an API key for OpenAI or Anthropic, it is stored exclusively in your iPhone's Keychain. The Keychain is Apple's encrypted credential storage โ it is hardware-backed on modern iPhones and inaccessible to other apps or to us.
We cannot read, access, transmit, or recover your API keys under any circumstances. If you delete the app, your API keys are removed from Keychain automatically.
Your conversation history is stored locally on your device using iOS data storage, protected by iOS encryption and your device passcode/biometrics.
We have no access to your chat history. It is never synced to our servers (we have none), and it does not participate in any iCloud sync unless your iPhone's default app data sync is enabled โ in which case Apple's iCloud privacy policy applies.
FRIDAY requests microphone access to support voice input. When you use voice input, your audio is transcribed on-device using Apple's Speech framework with on-device recognition enabled. No audio is transmitted to Apple's servers or to us.
Microphone access is only active while you are actively recording. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings โ Privacy โ Microphone.
FRIDAY requests notification permission to alert you when the AI model has finished downloading and is ready to use. Notifications are generated and delivered locally on your device โ no server push infrastructure is used. We cannot send you any notifications without your device initiating them.
FRIDAY contains zero analytics SDKs, zero tracking pixels, and zero third-party data collection libraries. We do not use Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Sentry, or any similar service.
Apple may collect standard App Store analytics (install count, crash logs submitted through iOS) under their own privacy policy. This data is aggregated and anonymous and is not linked to individual users.
The only third-party network contact FRIDAY makes is:
No advertising networks, social SDKs, or tracking frameworks are included in the app.
FRIDAY is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we collect no information from anyone, this is structurally guaranteed.
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of FRIDAY after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice.
